“I spoke with several plumbers, one of whom came over and gave me a price for replacing the water heater. I asked if it was unusual that I continued to have hot water, even though the basement floor was very wet (I assumed from the water heater). He said it was possible depending where the heater leak was. I ended up having Doug do the work and when he arrived, he said the old heater wasn’t leaking, that the leak was coming from outside the basement. He showed me a wet patch of ground near the basement and offered to dig and repair what he was sure was a broken pipe. I ended up having Doug replace the water heater anyway because of its age (12-ish). He was just great to work with and I would definitely call him anytime I have plumbing issues”
